MW25M20V - 37.8" 208V mWAVE Smart Medium Wave IR Energy Single Phase Electric Radiant Heater, 2,500W, 12.0A, Wi-Fi & Remote Control
The season ends when you decide it does. The back patio in late October. The balcony that catches the evening wind. The sunroom nobody sits in past Thanksgiving. The mWAVE 2.5 kW Smart is built to give those spaces back.
2,500 watts of medium-wave radiant heat, delivered from an architectural profile 37.8 inches long and barely 3.8 inches deep. Ninety percent of the electricity it draws leaves as infrared aimed at the floor — not at the air above it — so warmth arrives within seconds of switch-on and stays put when the doors swing open and the wind picks up. Sealed to IP65. Controlled from a phone. Finished in black, and quiet enough to disappear into a ceiling plane.

| Voltage | 208 V |
| Current Draw | 12.0 A |
| Phase / Frequency | Single phase / 60 Hz |
| Minimum Branch Circuit | 15 A dedicated (15.0 A at 125% continuous load) |

Branch circuit size shown is the code-derived minimum — 125% of rated amperage under NEC/CEC continuous-load rules. Final circuit and conductor sizing also depends on wire run length, ambient temperature, and other loads sharing the panel. Confirm with your electrician before ordering materials.

Coverage by Mounting Height
Radiant intensity falls as mounting height rises, and the comfort footprint widens with it. Use this to set spacing between units and to confirm the 2.5 kW is the right size for your space.
| Mounting Height | 8 ft | 9 ft | 10 ft |
| Coverage (ft) | 17 × 16 | 18 × 16 | 18 × 17 |
| Coverage (m) | 5 × 5 | 5.5 × 5 | 5.5 × 5 |
Coverage is the floor area receiving at least 10 Btu/h·ft² (30 W/m²). Intensity peaks directly beneath the unit and tapers toward the edges.
Key Features
- Carbon sock element. A woven carbon sleeve instead of a traditional coiled wire. It runs cooler, glows less, and spreads heat along its full length without the hot spots and hard glare a coil produces.
- Low-glare medium wave. Strong radiant warmth with far less visible light than a short-wave heater. Candlelight, table settings and architectural lighting survive intact — the heat arrives without the orange floodlight.
- IP65 weather-sealed housing. Fully sealed against dust and water jets. Rated for exposed outdoor installation in Canadian winters.
- Wi-Fi and remote, standard. No hub, no external controller, no commissioning. The Tuya Smart app (iOS and Android) handles scheduling, zoning and remote operation; the included handheld remote covers everything from the table.
- Voice control. Compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Home.
- 90% radiant efficiency. Tested to AHRI Standard 1330. Nine of every ten watts leave as infrared directed at the occupied zone.
- Adjustable aim, 0° to 67.5°. Stainless-steel angle brackets included. Mount flat to a ceiling plane or angle it toward the seating group or the open edge.
- No drafts, no noise, no ductwork. No fan, no combustion, no gas line, no outdoor condenser. One dedicated circuit and it runs.
- Single-phase power. 208 V, standard residential and light-commercial supply. No three-phase service required.
Smart Control
The Smart model ships with a factory-integrated Wi-Fi module and a handheld IR remote. Both work interchangeably on the same unit.
- Handheld remote — on/off, five power levels (L1–L5), 0–9 hour timer. Range up to 5 m, line of sight.
- Tuya Smart app (also published as Smart Life) — full power and timer control from anywhere over 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Turn the patio on before you arrive. Group several units into zones. Set a weekly schedule.
- Voice — Amazon Alexa and Google Home.
Running the space off wall switches, occupancy sensors or a building automation system instead? Specify the Pro model (MW25M20), which drops the Wi-Fi and remote for a direct-wire junction box at a lower price.
What's in the Box

Chains for suspended installation are not supplied. The mWAVE Hanger Kit (MS017B) is available separately.
Why Medium Wave
Short-wave heaters put out intense heat and an intense orange light to go with it. Long-wave heaters are comfortable but slow, and air movement defeats them. Medium wave sits between: high absorbency into skin and surfaces, low reflection, and a fraction of the visible light.
That matters most in the rooms this heater is built for. A rooftop bar at 9pm is a lighting design as much as a heating load. The mWAVE delivers the warmth without rewriting the room's atmosphere — which is exactly why it ends up in restaurants, hotels and high-end residential work rather than warehouses.
Installation Requirements
- Dedicated single-phase branch circuit, 15 A, 208 V. Heaters are a continuous load — conductor and overcurrent protection sized at 125% of rated amperage per NEC/CEC.
- Minimum 8 ft from the finished floor. Minimum 18" from vertical surfaces and walls.
- Line-voltage control only. Never use a 24 V low-voltage thermostat intended for forced-air HVAC — it will damage both the thermostat and the heater circuit.
- Installation by a qualified person; electrical connection by a certified electrician, to the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70) or Canadian Electrical Code Part 1 (C22.1) and all local codes.
- Confirm requirements with your authority having jurisdiction before specifying.
